A landing page is a means to increase conversions through a certain action. Landing pages are the first page a user sees after clicking a link (or “landing”) in e-mail, social media, or a search engine. If the page doesn’t have a purpose or clearly direct the user to a desired end-state, it is best to think of it as a useless page.

What is a landing page?

Landing pages are a unique way to direct visitors to a specific action on your website. They are meant to guide the reader and help them choose whether or not to take a specific action. Think of your landing page as your sales pitch. You are presenting your service, product, or idea to the potential customer and it is up to you to convince them to purchase. Landing pages should contain a call to action, a description of the product or service, a description of how your product will benefit your customer, and an explanation of how your product compares to the competition.

Why do you need a landing page?

Landing pages are a great way to guide visitors and page-ins you want to convert to leads. Landing pages are useful for companies that sell products because people who are looking for a specific product will end up on the landing page you want. For example, people will end up on your Facebook landing pages when they are looking for you on Facebook.

Different types of landing pages

There are a lot of different types of landing pages and strategies out there. we will discuss the three most common type

Opt-in landing page

This is the most common type of landing page. They give some away for free in exchange for your email address like a pdf cheat sheet.

They don’t sell anything, they just collect your email to use for marketing promotions, then use those email addresses to do a mailing and list build. You can then come back later with a creative campaign, such as a social media contest or scavenger hunt. When you replicate the experience again, you can collect even more email addresses.

Sales page landing pages

These are used to advertise a product or a service that will be sold. Sales landing pages will show one thing and one thing only.

Landing pages are a common tool that many marketers use to quickly and efficiently convert visitors into customers. The problem is, not all landing pages are created equal. There are a few common characteristics to landing pages that consistently produce great results.

How to design an effective landing page?

The key to designing a landing page that will lead to lead generation and growth of your business is to offer some type of incentive. Your landing page must appeal to what makes a person click on the page. An offer of a discount, free download, or a free trial is a common method of grabbing the attention of the reader and enticing them to complete the action.

Besides offering a deal of some type, your landing page should offer a solution that will meet their needs.

Make sure Your landing page loads fast.

Your landing page needs to load quickly so the reader can have a great user experience. If your landing page doesn’t load quickly, people will bounce before they have even seen the content.

Here are some tips to speed up your landing page

Use properly sized image
Having oversized images can slow down your website dramatically.

Compress your images
Use a website like tiny png to compress your images before you upload them

Use next-gen image formats such as webp
JPEG are things of the past. Use a service like xx to help serve webp images to visitors

Get rid of anything distractions
To create an effective landing page. You need to give the user two options, yes or no. Remove headers, footer, sidebars, wordy paragraph

Give the user only one action.
I touch on this earlier. You want to give the end-user two options. Take you up on your offer or not.

Be super clear on your offer
Your offer needs to be crystal clear. It should be obvious to the user in the 5 seconds of landing your page.

Have a clear call to action
You need to decide on the goal of your landing page. Do you want more email signs up? Do you more want more calls? Whatever is your goal of your landing having a clear concise call to action is a must. You have to tell the visitor what to do next.

Examples of call to actions

  • Call now for a free quote
  • Get a free now
  • Contact us now for a free quote

Use social proof
Use reviews, logos of big-name clients, videos, or pictures to get the visitor to believe that your product will be a good match for them.

Add relevant social media option
Show your social media presence and how many followers/fans you have

Add testimonials
If your product is a good fit for the customer, they are more likely to buy from you.

You want your social proof right below the hero section (a hero section is the first thing the user see in the first 5 seconds. Usually contains your offer and a call to action) of your landing

Most important have a compelling offer
If you have a boring offer and it is more you-centric. Your landing won’t convert. Your offer needs to be a no-brainer offer. That the visitor will be foolish if they don’t take you upon.

What is an offer?

You want your offer should be a no-brainer. What makes an offer a no-brainer?
Easy, something that provides so much value that exceeds the price tag of the product or service.

A common misconception is giving a discount is an offer.
It is an offer but it is not a no-brainer offer. Bundle services, products and add a unique benefit that will help the visitor solve a specific problem.

Get 10% off is a boring offer and attracts the worst customers.
The ones that will argue the small things.

A landing page is a page intended to turn visitors into buyers. A sales funnel is a sequence of pages that has been created to generate leads and grow your business. They work together to create lead generating machince

What is a sales funnel?

A sales funnel is one of the most powerful tools for promoting anything in the world of business. They are a simple yet effective way to get your product or service in front of a large number of people in a short period of time.
